How to be a poker affiliate and make Millions
Nice title right? Well it’s possible and a few have done it, what is rarely said however is that being a poker affiliate is not an easy task, you can’t just build a web page and fill it full of flashy banners then sit back and watch the cash roll in. While this tactic may have worked before the poker boom, which in turn created a poker affiliate boom, it simply won’t work now!
It’s hard work, not digging holes in the rain but mentally hard, it involves very long hours and some very frustrating times. You can never really guarantee your income and money can fluctuate wildly from day to day or Month to Month.
The above points might sound a bit negative and I suppose they should do, if you are not committed to building the very best poker site you can, offering something of use to your visitors and putting in the hours of work, research and monotony then you really should look for another area of business to get involved in.
Still Interested In Being A Poker Affiliate?
OK, there are a few things I have learned over the past few years whilst being an affiliate to many online poker sites, these things will save you time and money.
1: Think of something unique, something of real value to the people who will visit the web site. Bonus sites (unless room specific) probably won’t get you very far, strategy sites need to be high quality and “real poker strategy” writing articles like, “how to play from the blinds” won’t get you very far.
2: Manage your time well, most of the time new affiliates spend their time checking their stats to see how much money they have made, you really need to manage your time well to get the most from the hours you WORK. Plan everything before launching your site and set a goals or targets that you need to meet.
3: If you build the best site in the World it’s of no use if no one can find it. You need to understand how our friend google works, this is something we would all love to know. What we do know is that google loves content, unique content that engages the reader, google also loves links so the more sites that link to yours the better. Bare in mind relevant links are what you need really, 1000 links from a site all about hill walking won’t do your poker site that much good.
4: Marketing, the idea behind making money from an affiliate site is to sell the product before the reader leaves your site via your affiliate link. There are many trains of though about this process, banners don’t work but subtle in content text links with interesting headings do. After all if your poker site is all about free money then any link you have should be on target such as $100 instant free poker money here, people are pretty clued up nowadays and ignore anything that looks like an advert.
5: I can’t stress enough the need for your site to be excellent and of real use to visitors, you can target a small audience for a specific bonus or product and be successful, you can go for a larger market which means more work but can bring higher rewards. It all depends on the level of commitment you are willing to give.
Effort = money it’s as simple as that, the more you give the more you get!
What I will also add here is that I am no poker affiliate or online marketing guru, I am still learning new things every single day in every single way. The above points are just of few of the very basic things which will save any new affiliate a bit of time, plan it well and do your research.
